Morgan Freeman’s voice is that of God — literally. And when God reads Justin Bieber, everything in the world falls into place.
Vanity Fair has done it again. The latest installment of their dramatic reading segment stars the one and only Morgan Freeman, who is taking on the one and only Justin Bieber. In the just released video, tjhe 78-year-old actor holds an iPad and reads the lyrics to Justin’s hit, “Love Yourself,” and trust me, it’s impossible to keep a straight face during this one.
Morgan starts out by introducing Justin as a “very popular song writer,” then kind of rolls his eyes. With that, he reads the whole first verse, followed by the chorus of “Love Yourself,” for Vanity Fair. The best part of course, is the chorus. “My mama didn’t like you and she likes everyone,” he reads. “And I never like to admit that I was wrong / And I’ve been so caught up in my job / Didn’t see what’s going on / But now I know, I’m better sleeping on my own. /’Cause if you like the way you look that much / Oh baby, you should go and love yourself.”
Naturally, when he’s done, the whole staff applauds.
On Wednesday night, Morgan was also on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote London Has Fallen and was obviously asked about his famous voice, and where it came from.
“I went to school to study how to be an actor and in that school, Los Angeles City College, I had a voice and diction instructor who was very good at his job,” Morgan told Jimmy Kimmel on his show. “You had to learn to speak and sound your final consonants.” Kimmel’s response was pretty much perfect. “So you actually learned something in college. I learned how to drink beer out of a funnel.”
Same, Jimmy. Same. So, did you love his dramatic reading? Is this the best one yet? Let us know!
