Is the 2016 Presidential race about to get a little bit bigger? Mitt Romney tore into Donald Trump in his speech on March 3, blasting him as both a ‘fraud’ and a ‘phony’ in what many believe may have been a sign of his impending candidacy. But will he actually run?
Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney delivered a scathing indictment of the current GOP front runner Donald Trump on March 3, slamming him as both a “phony” and a “con man” in a speech that made at least one thing perfectly clear: don’t vote for Trump! What wasn’t clear however, was the status of Mitt’s own presidential bid. While he previously said that he would not run on the 2016 ticket, Mitt’s speech has some now wondering if he might just jump into the GOP race after all. But is it possible?
He may have lost his own presidential bids in 2008 and 2012, but that doesn’t mean Mitt couldn’t still enter the race this year…that is, if he’s even up for it. Though he bashed Trump in every sense of the word during his speech, insisting that the business mogul would “plunge” the country into a “deep recession,” and endanger Americans with his foreign policy, the former Massachusetts governor kept mum about whether or not he intends to join the GOP race himself — a move that has since left voters and political commentators alike to speculate wildly about the possibility of a Mitt vs. Trump showdown in the very near future. Here’s a look at what they’re saying:
Hmmmmm… with Mitt Romney back in the picture… is he running for President again? He succeeded in 2012 in… https://t.co/8GcchwLQIm

Is @MittRomney really going to run for president or is that just rumors I am hearing?

If Trump wins the nomination, @MittRomney will run as an independent. I bet he's dying to run again and would be welcomed by many

As previously reported, Mitt held nothing back in his rant against Trump, calling him out for having faulty ideas and policies that would only result in a less safe or prosperous America. “He has neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president,” Mitt sternly stated. “And his personal qualities would mean that America would cease to be a shining city on a hill.” Watch the whole speech here!
Not only did Mitt suggest that Republicans shouldn’t pick Trump as their candidate, but he mocked all of the things Trump has put his name on over the years — even declaring “his promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University”! Since then, a number of celebrities and even other Republican leaders have come out in support of Mitt’s comments, adding fuel to the fire that perhaps Mitt has what it takes to take over as the GOP front runner for the third time after all.
With eight months remaining before election day in November, surely more politicians and celebs will continue to voice their disapproval of Trump, perhaps giving Mitt all the motivation he needs to jump into the race before it’s too late.
