Captain Sig Hansen is no stranger to drama at sea, but the ‘Deadliest Catch’ star faced real peril when he collapsed on the deck of his ship. Sig’s frightening ordeal led to the captain being airlifted back to shore! Click through for more details!
Captain Sig Hansen of the F/V Northwestern was fishing for crab with his crew when something went terribly wrong. The Deadliest Catch star suddenly collapsed on the deck of the fishing boat, and it all happened while cameras were still rolling for the reality show. But the danger wasn’t over just yet. Read on to find out what happened!
Sig, the boisterous, commanding captain featured on the hit Discovery Channel program, briefly fainted in the middle of fishing, to the horror of his co-workers and the Deadliest Catch production crew, according to TMZ. But the captain came to just moments later, jumped up, and wanted to continue on with his day fishing! Not a chance, said everyone else on board.
The captain was airlifted from the ship to a nearby hospital, where he was met by his family. Though they feared his collapse was due to a heart attack, he was all smiles and doing just fine in his hospital room, as seen in a pic posted by his daughter, Mandy Hansen (now deleted). “Capt survived the ‘widowmaker’ !! beating a heart attack ain’t easy. Welcome back boss.”
Mandy’s cheery pic showed herself and her mother sitting patiently by Sig’s bedside. He has a big smile on his face, and a cuddly teddy bear in his bed. So sweet! Doctors are still running tests to determine if Sig had a heart attack, or if anything else contributed to his collapse. Hopefully it’s no biggie!
