The Oscars just keep the #OscarsSoWhite jokes coming! Tracy Morgan, Whoopi Goldberg, and more black actors created a super funny montage that mocked four of the nominated films, and may just have been the most hilarious moment of the night. Watch part of the video here!
The #OscarsSoWhite controversy was the talk of this year’s Oscars before the show even happened, and it’s practically even more prominent during the show! Four of this year’s nominated films were recreated with the help of Whoopi Goldberg, Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, and Leslie Jones — and the results were simply hysterical!
First was Joy, in which Whoopi plays a janitor that makes quite the sassy statement to Jennifer Lawrence: “It’s not rocket science, it’s a mop!” But that was only the beginning! Next up was The Revenant, which featured the scene where Leonardo DiCaprio gets mauled by a bear…but instead, he’s mauled by Leslie. Sound strange? Actually, it’s quite amusing — she gives him a beating for not calling her back!
Although the vid was already cracking us up, once Tracy showed up we were practically on the floor! He took Eddie Redmayne‘s place in The Danish Girl, and it was just TOO good. He took the Danish Girl title literally and nommed on a danish, exclaiming, “These danishes is good girl!” To close out the short, Chris became The Martian, with Kristen Wiig and Jeff Daniels making an appearance to joke about leaving a black astronaut up in space. The jokes may have gone a little far in that one, but let’s be honest…Chris can make any uncomfortable joke funny! Check out the whole short below:
Before the mocking montage played, Chris opened the show with an awesome montage that addressed the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, cracking some serious jokes regarding the lack of diversity in Hollywood and the Oscars. He even put Jada Pinkett Smith on blast for boycotting the awards with her hubby Will Smith!
The jokes didn’t stop after the montage, either. Stacey Dash made an extremely strange appearance that had everyone feeling awkward, considering her ridiculous comments about the controversy. Once that weird moment passed, Chris kept the mockery coming too. Clearly the #OscarsSoWhite issue isn’t going to go away unless something changes next year — but hey, at least they’re having a good time mocking it this year!
