Move over, The Dress. It’s time now for The Jacket. One year after a simple question tore the Internet in two, a new controversy looms overhead: what color is this Adidas jacket? Leave your opinion in our poll!
It’s hard to believe, but it’s been a year since the color of a single dress drove everyone mad. While everyone has put that horrific black-and-blue or white-and-gold nightmare behind them, a new color-themed debate now surrounds a simple Adidas jacket!
“I hate to make a new blue/black white/gold dress meme,” Tumblr user PopPunkBlogger wrote a year after #TheDress sent the Internet into civil war, “but my friend as this jacket and she says it’s white and blue but I see black and brown.” Not knowing what they were doing, PopPunkBlogger asked the Internet, “please tell me what you see.”
Uh-oh, PopPunkBlogger. What have you done?! Getting people to agree on the Internet is as likely as getting Donald Trump, 68, to not say something controversial! It looks like that we’re in store for another multi-colored war as rival “blue and white,” “brown and black” and “green and gold” factions will likely tear the online world apart (until the next meme drops, that is.)
In fact, long before “Damn Daniel” took over, #TheDress was the biggest viral meme ever. People could not agree if the dress was white and gold or blue and black. Even after Laura Coleman, the first model who ever rocked the frock, confirmed the color, the controversy over the outfit remained. For those who couldn’t decide, there was a Halloween costume that had the dress in both colors.
When trying to get to the bottom of the Dress, Ophthalmologist Wesley K. Herman told HollywoodLife.com that “no one is really seeing the color of the dress, they are seeing the color of the light that is reflected to the dress.” So, while PopPunkBlogger’s friend says that the jacket is white and blue, it makes sense that PPB sees black and brown.
