We fell in love with Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ — but who knew they could also be super cute and quirky on TV?
When Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy guest star in episode three of Fuller House, they use their sick dance moves — but they had to do more than that: they had to act! Maksim chatted with HollywoodLife.com about his experience — and his new found love for acting.
“For one of the first experiences in acting, this was incredible. It was a blessing. To work with Val, you know, we both knew we had an amazing bender, but I didn’t know it was going to be that easy and that awesome, and that fun,” Maksim told us at JCPenney at an event for their new activewear line, Xersion, in NYC. During his episode, he dances with Candace Cameron Bure‘s DJ at a club, while his brother seduces Jodie Sweetin‘s Stephanie.
“He did a great job, and everyone was saying that I did well so; I can’t wait for the episode to come out because we were really praised by the producers so much, and it made us feel great,” Maksim added. While people told them that they figured being a dancer would help them act, that wasn’t the case.
“We’re very cerebral people when it comes to learning new skill and for us this was a different skill,” he said. “It’s speaking, its delivering lines, its feeling, it’s living, it’s not like dance.”
Maks also admitted that he’s really into acting now — and the experience was an insane one.
“It went from ‘ok, here’s the script,’ to let’s just do whatever, roll the cameras and see what happens. They ended up even having to include another camera. The thing evolved so much,” he said. “I want to be an actor. It’s one of the things that I’m interested in doing, and I was taking a lot of lessons in the last year and a half, so there will be a time when I’m ready and you’ll see me on the screen. I really, really want to do it and not just as a shallow character. It’s a really great skill and it gives you something in return. The feeling that you get from doing something that’s dramatic and real, and you live it out – you walk away and you’re like, ‘Wow.'”
