Okay, so the Feb. 25 episode started out in the worst way possible for an Olitz fan — with Fitz making out with Lillian in the back of a limo. Bless Abby Whelan for cutting this terrible makeout short. I do NOT like Lillian. AT. ALL.

Abby was there to have a little chit chat with Fitz. Lillian was a wild card. Fitz was with a new woman who was not a regular. They needed a plan. Basically, the president had to have a plan if he wanted to get laid. Fitz didn’t want to hear any of this. He told Abby to go far, far away. When did Fitz become the worst all of a sudden?

Rowan was so proud of his daughter for what she was doing with Mellie, but he had a request that involved Jake. Apparently, Jake was dating someone who wasn’t Olivia. Rowan didn’t want Olivia to complicate things with Jake. Olivia had no idea Jake was seeing someone else, and Rowan knew he’d dropped a bombshell. He just wanted “what’s best for both my kids.” Okay, so this kid thing is getting too weird for me.

Susan Ross’ campaign was in full force. Susan and Liz were pulling David in two different directions. He was sleeping with Liz, and getting asked out by Susan. Liz told David to stop complaining and man up. He could have his cake and eat it, too. Poor guy has never had this much game.

Sleeping With The Enemy

Jake and Olivia were still hooking up, much to no one’s surprise. Huck showed up at Olivia’s just as Jake was leaving. He wanted to think that the reason Olivia was spending so much time with Jake and Rowan was because she was gathering intel. Oh, wait. She was just sleeping with the enemy. Olivia seemed convinced that Jake and Rowan didn’t have ulterior motives. Huck, along with the rest of us, knew Olivia was being stupid. Rowan was still controlling everything, and Huck couldn’t wait for Olivia to snap out of it and come crawling back to reality.

Meanwhile, Cyrus was vetting the new guy Francisco Vargas. He was a military guy, went to Penn State and married his college sweetheart. He became the first hispanic governor of Pennsylvania. He looked like the perfect candidate. Cyrus was really impressed, but he wanted to know the bad stuff. Ethan shocked Cyrus by saying Francisco was flawless. His only problem? No one knew who Francisco was. After Ethan left, Tom walked out in just a towel. Swoon. It was time for Tom to go work — helping Cyrus create the next president.

Quinn and Charlie were thisclose to spending a romantic weekend together, but Charlie suddenly had to babysit a friend’s kid, who turned out to be the child of someone very important.

Olivia confronted Jake about his new woman after some on-the-floor lovemaking. Olivia tried to act like she didn’t care, but it was written all over her face. Jake had been seeing this girl for a while. Jake called her “special.” He told Olivia not to worry. But she was. Olivia had just gotten played. So who is this mystery woman?

Abby went to fix what she’d done with Fitz, but he was being a total tool. Abby stressed that they needed to make a plan. She had to do her job. Fitz was being stubborn and basically kicked Abby out. Poor Red.

Rowan couldn’t help but gush over Olivia’s work with Mellie’s book. He thought she was happy for the first time in a long time. He was happy, too. Yeah, both of his “kids” were exactly where he wanted them to be. That’s when Olivia started remembering all of the times Rowan had threatened her. She figured out that Huck was right. Rowan had been playing her all this time.

Getting That Hero Moment

Tom went to work for Cyrus. He tracked down this guy named Wayne and threatened to kill his kid if he didn’t do exactly what he said. The guy went to the Pennsylvania state capital, where Tom shot the guards. Now it was Wayne’s turn. This was Gov. Vargas’ office, and Gov. Vargas was the target. With a gunman on the loose, everyone now knew Gov. Vargas’ name. Cyrus was loving every minute of it.

In the middle of this national emergency, Fitz was making out with Lillian. Ew. Abby walked in on them to let Fitz know he had to do his job now. Fitz basically threatened Abby’s job. That’s when she gave him hell. He figured she was angry because the woman he was seeing wasn’t Olivia. Yeah, Abby was mad about that. Olivia was real, and this Lillian chick wasn’t. Fitz told Abby to stay out of his personal life or else.

After their latest rendezvous, Olivia asked Jake point blank if he thought Rowan had changed. She was willing to help him if he revealed what Rowan was up to. She knew Rowan was trying to isolate them by telling Olivia that Jake was seeing someone. Jake kept his mouth shut. I hope it’s because he’s protecting Olivia. Later, Abby called Liv to talk. Without saying it, Olivia realized Fitz was seeing someone new as well. She just got played three times. Talk about an off day.

The shooting at the Pennsylvania state capital was in full swing, and Cyrus was petrified that Gov. Vargas wouldn’t get his “hero moment.” Tom was certain Vargas was their guy. Cyrus told Tom to make sure Vargas was their guy, or there would be hell to pay. Before a sharpshooter could take Wayne out, Tom shot Vargas, but it looked like Tom had pulled the trigger. Vargas took down Wayne and became an instant hero.

A Monster Does Not Change

Olivia had finally had enough. She went face-to-face with Huck in an attempt to explain that she was playing the game with her father. Huck knew she wasn’t even on the same level as her father. Olivia couldn’t win against her dad. He always came out on top. Huck recognized that Olivia was just like him, Jake, Tom and the rest. She had been made by Rowan. Olivia was certain that her father would always look after her, but Huck had news for her. “A monster does not change,” he said. And one day, Rowan would turn on Olivia.

As if Abby’s life couldn’t get much worse, photos were leaked of Lillian leaving Fitz’s private residence. It was going to become a media firestorm. Well, Abby had reached her breaking point. All she was doing was trying to protect Fitz. She was tired of being threatened by him. If he wanted to fire her, then he needed to do it. Once Abby grew a backbone, Fitz told her to call him by his first name.

Cyrus gave Abby a little advice on how to handle the leaked photos, and it played right into his master plan. A meet-and-greet between Vargas and Fitz would be the perfect way to distract the press. As this meeting went down, Cyrus was introduced to Vargas. Oh boy.

Over at OPA, Olivia was investigating someone new — a woman named Vanessa Moss. She wanted full surveillance on the women Jake was seeing! Is Jake really serious about this woman? Or could he be trying to mask his feelings for Liv? With Scandal, you never know.
