Several people were killed as a result of the attack on a lawn care company in Hesston, KS, on Feb. 25, reports CNN. According to Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton, the shooter was an employee, who KWCH12 identified as Cedric, and he was killed by police during the attack. Unforuntately, he was not stopped before shooting several others. “There could be as many as three or four others (dead), and possibly up to 20 people that have been injured,” said Walton.

Cedric carried out a planned attack, first shooting someone in a car while they were driving, then shooting a second person in the leg, then someone in the parking lot of Excel. Finally he entered the building and began unloading on his coworkers. “This will take some time to work through” due to the number of crime scenes and people, Walton said.”This is just a horrible incident that’s happened here. It’s going to be a lot of sad people before this is all over.”

Cedric’s Facebook page identified him as a painter at Excel Industries, and showcases photos of him holding two guns, including what seems to be an assault rifle. He has a long history of criminal activity including burglary, grand theft, and fleeing and eluding. He was a resident of Newton, KS. A nearby high school has become a reception area for employees and families, and Newton Medical Center is in lockdown. Nearby Hesston College recently had it’s lockdown lifted. KWCH12 also reports a SWAT team is at a Newton, KS home.
