Coldplay grabbed the big prize of the night for Best British Group, at the Brit Awards. Sorry, One Direction fans, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne aren’t going to be accepting the award on behalf of all the boys — congrats Coldplay!
The boys of Coldplay have done it again. The band beat out One Direction, Blur, Foals and Years and Years for best British Group. Chris spoke on behalf of his band and thanked everyone while also throwing a fun joke in there about 1D. He turned to his bandmates and gave them all names of each “Story Of My Life” singer — too funny. Prior to receiving the big award, Coldplay put on insane performance of “Hymn For The Weekend.” Keep in mind, they’re also up for Album of the Year against Adele, Florence + The Machine, James Bay and Jamie xx. This would be the fourth win for the guys in the Album of the Year category if take home the trophy!
Sadly, 1D didn’t take home to award this year, but seeing Louis Tomlinson, 24, and Liam Payne, 22, together again on stage brought on so many feels, but we really missed Harry Styles and Niall Horan who weren’t in attendance. Loyal 1D fans were pretty upset, but does this solidify that their expected two-year hiatus could be indefinite? Say it isn’t so! Prior to the show, the boys tore up the red carpet and The guys posed for a silly selfie, in which Louis grabbed the breast of a giant, golden Brit Award statuette.
