A$AP Rocky didn’t get a very warm welcome to New Zealand, where he’d just arrived to perform an arena show Feb. 24. He got jumped by three guys in a hotel elevator who punched him in the head and face!
Oh no! Three bullies in Auckland, New Zealand tried to beat the crap out of rapper A$AP Rocky, 27, all over an elevator ride dispute, and worse yet, they knew exactly who the celebrity was and still continued to attack him. So did the incident cause him to miss his big performance at the Vector Arena, where 12,000 of his fans were waiting to see him that night? Read on for what went down!
“A$AP was at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland around three AM local time, where he had a concert there later that night. We’re told he was getting into an elevator with some girls, and three guys wanted to get in also — but A$AP told ’em there was no room left, and then it was on,” TMZ reports from sources on the other side of the Pacific. “We’re told the guys jumped the rapper, punching him in the head and face while he tried to protect the girls. Witnesses say the suspects knew who they were dealing with because they were yelling ‘F**k A$AP!’ Hotel security eventually broke it up until cops arrived and nabbed one suspect — a 35-year-old local who was booked for assault and resisting police.” the site adds.
They noted that it was unclear if he had any injuries, but he apparently was well enough to perform his show in Auckland without a hitch later in the evening. The New Zealand Herald‘s concert reviewer even said, “With Rocky floating around the stage in front of tie-died visuals splashed across those purple pillars, it was almost enough to brand Rocky as the prince of rap once and for all,” and gushed about his performance. So too bad bullies, your punches only made Rocky stronger!
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that guys who knew who A$AP Rocky was would attack him like that?
