She’s suffering from stage IV cervical cancer, but Joey Feek didn’t let her terminal illness prevent her from taking care of her husband and daughter. The singer prepared dinner for her family from bed!
Joey Feek, 40, is battling terminal cervical cancer, but she managed to get a little sense of normalcy by doing something that she loves the most: taking care of husband Rory Feek, 49, and daughter Indiana, 2. In an Instagram posted by Rory on February 21, the Joey+Rory singer is seen making a full meal for her family from her hospital bed. That’s dedication!
“when a mother can’t get to the kitchen, but wants so much to help make her family dinner… you bring the kitchen to mama,” Rory captioned his photo of Joey. It’s a sweet, heartbreaking photo that shows Joey hard at work in her hospital bed in their living room, a small table set up with a cutting board, food processor, and a host of yummy food. Whatever she’s making, it’s definitely labor intensive. A laptop is set up on the bed next to her, likely showing her the recipe for whatever delicious dish she’s creating.

Joey’s had a big week leading up to her family dinner. She had an amazingly sweet Valentine’s Day with Rory and Indiana! Her day started out with some little kisses from baby Indiana, and a romantic “walk down memory lane” with Rory. Their first date was actually on Valentine’s Day in 2002, and he made an adorable video to show her all of their best moments together throughout the years since then!
Since he couldn’t take her out for a candlelit dinner, he brought the date to her! Joey got all dolled up, and Rory brought her flowers and sushi, her favorite food! Something even more special? Joey and Rory were able to cuddle in bed for the first time since November. What a magical evening!
That wasn’t the only highlight of her week, either. Indiana turned two years-old on February 17, and it was such a happy day! Joey+Rory were also nominated for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance Grammy for their song “If I Needed You.” Rory didn’t go, because he wanted to stay by Joey’s side. It looked like they had a fun time at home having a watching party!
