The votes are in, and the GOP voters in the Palmetto State have picked Donald Trump! The South Carolina Republican primary went down on Feb. 20, and when the polls closed, Donald walked away with the win!
It’s time for Donald Trump, 69, to celebrate with a pulled-pork sandwich and some sweet tea because winning never tasted so good. He pulled off the victory in South Carolina, beating his GOP rivals to win the Republican presidential primary!
When the polls closed, it was clear that the South Carolina Republican voters wanted Donald to represent them in the 2016 election. Donald won his second-straight victory on Feb. 20, the Associated Press reports. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are in a close race for second place.
The beautiful landscape of South Carolina hosted some really nasty political insults. When Ted and Donald met during the Feb. 13 debate, Donald said Ted was “the single biggest liar…you’re probably worse than Jeb Bush.” If that wasn’t enough, Donald threatened to sue Ted for “not being a natural born citizen.” Maybe that’s what Ted was talking about when he said Donald’s campaign had gone into the mud?
It’s been quite the dirty political fight leading up to this night. Ted narrowly defeated Donald in the Iowa caucus on Feb. 1. It almost seemed like Ted would cruise his way to the party’s nomination, but Donald wasn’t going to let him walk away without a fight. Instead, he called Ted a “p*ssy” at a New Hampshire political rally and it seemed to work. Donald totally trumped Ted and the rest of the GOP candidates, winning the New Hampshire primary by a landslide.
With South Carolina done, the GOP candidates head to Nevada. The Silver State will hold its Republican caucus on Feb. 23, the last GOP presidential primary vote before Super Tuesday on March 1.
Are you happy with the winner, HollywoodLifers? Do you think a Republican will be the next president of the United States?
