Her estranged husband Neil Murphy, ‘Mob Wives’ co-stars and many more attended the first visitation service for beloved reality TV star ‘Big Ang’ in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 20. Click here to see the pics of the arrivals.
Big Ang sadly lost her fight on Feb. 18 with stage four brain and lung cancer at the age of 55, but since then there’s been an outpouring of love for the bubbly personality. Saturday’s visitation is one of 4 planned this weekend, usually held with a closed casket, at the very-fitting Scarpaci Funeral home in Brooklyn.
Big Ang was first diagnosed with throat cancer last year and discovered in December the worst news possible that it had spread to her lungs and brain. Before her diagnosis, Big Ang had admitted to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for 40 years. She confessed all about her battle with cancer to Dr. Oz in a Jan. 29 taping for his show, Big Ang’s last interview, that aired on Jan. 16.
Her Mob Wives co-star Carla Facciolo confirmed to People Big Ang was “rushed to the hospital on Monday only days after being discharged.” She passed away at the Manhattan hospital on Thursday, where she was surrounded by friends, family and Neil. He was “there the whole time,” Carla said. “He’s part of her life. He’s still her husband, you know? I don’t know if they got back together, but to Ang, when she throws somebody off her for a little bit, they’re always back in. She takes in people,” Carla added.
Sanitation worker Neil shared his final thought on Big Ang on Twitter with a touching photo of the pair together in happier times. He wrote, “I will always love you forever please watch over the grandkids I know you will.”
