Cody and Nicole became a team after the last pit, and it made a LOT of people in the house nervous. The big question on everyone’s mind was if they were going to be the same big threat they were last year.
The fact that they had opposing alliances was a concern for everyone involved. The veteran guys had trust issues with Cody from the start, but when he became partners with Nicole, crap hit the fan for sure.
When we got to the fourth challenge, I saw tiny little buoys hanging from what looked like some freaking string. I had no clue what we were in for, but ole Steve never disappoints. OF COURSE it was trivia. My heart immediately sank into my stomach when he told us one partner had to sit on that tiny buoy while the other stayed ashore to answer trivia questions. My first thought was, “Am I allowed to do both???” Cowboy is 6’3, pushing 220 pounds; there was no way in the world, physically, he would be able to sit on that buoy. Let’s be honest here though, he’s not the brightest crayon in the box either. God love him. I felt like we were screwed either way.
Despite my worry, Cowboy was very confident he could answer the questions. After all, he did graduate from high school at the top of his class. I didn’t like it, but we decided he should stay on shore and I should sit on the buoy. I had a terrible feeling immediately after we gave Steve our decision…
When Cowboy answered that Hartwell was 5,000 miles from the Empire State Building, I thought I was going to vomit. I KNEW I should have made his big butt suck it up and sit on that buoy! What kind of guess was that?! It’s roughly 2,000 miles from Hartwell to Los Angeles, and that’s across the freaking country!! “Oh, here we go,” I thought. Luckily, Cody is completely oblivious to measuring distance and answered something even more insane, like 12,000 miles. Cody came in last and had to get the first question from Steve. Thank God Cowboy and I didn’t have to go first!
All eyes were on Cody and he actually got his first question right. I think everyone was a little surprised when he picked Shaybo to drop first. Cody stuck to his word and his alliance with the vet guys. Way to go, Cody! Huge props.
My heart was pounding because all the pressure was on Cowboy, and our spot in the house was hanging by a thread (literally). In the middle of my panic, I felt the entire structure ROCK and heard a gigantic splash. What the heck just happened? When I looked down and saw Kayla bobbing in the water, a HUGE weight lifted off my shoulders. Praise sweet Jesus we weren’t in last place! I began to calm down a little at that point and waited anxiously for Steve to give Cowboy his question.
“How many players are on the field during a play at an NFL football game?” Melissa asked. “Oh, thank God!” I thought. Cowboy LOVES football! He totally had this one. We got the easiest question. “22,” I said in my mind. Yes, he totally had that right. “24,” Cowboy said with confidence. You’ve got to be kidding me! What guy in their right mind would miss that question? This was not real life. I FREAKING CAN’T EVEN. My buoy dropped and my hands slipped from the rope so I had to drop in the water by default. I was PISSED.
Riley and Becky pulled out the win. A veteran guy win was always good for Cowboy and me. We knew we were pretty safe from the pit. With Hunter and Kayla in the pit, Riley and Becky had a tough decision about who they would send. I was glad I wasn’t in their shoes.
Becky looked stressed from the moment we got back to the house. Everyone was whispering. Everyone was curious. Hunter snapped on Kayla, and things got even more intense. The “OG” girls’ conversation at the dock is when things got REAL. The veteran girls had stuck together so far but an alliance had to be broken. It came down to which one: the veteran guys or the veteran girls?
Riley and Becky threw a huge curveball when they ultimately sent in Cody and Nicole. OMG! Oh no they didn’t! Even after Cody stuck by the vet guys in the challenge? Talk about cold. I hurt for Cody. Despite our differences last season, I truly thought it was unfair for him and Nicole. Riley was obviously still salty about last season, and this was his little revenge. I don’t think Becky wanted to hurt Nicole, but Riley didn’t give her much of a choice.
Obviously, Hunter had a little to do with this pick, too. He was really disappointed in Kayla, and he kind of had it out for Cody after his behavior last week. Everyone assumed the pit would be physical but, surprise, surprise, we were wrong! It was a freaking log puzzle. This pit was the most gloomy, depressing, disgusting pit ever! It poured down rain the entire night. It almost felt like even the Good Lord disagreed with Riley and Becky’s decision. I was so glad I wasn’t putting that puzzle together.
Nicole beat Kayla by a landslide which wasn’t a surprise. Poor Kayla…I mean at one point she asked Hunter if he had unplugged a charcoal grill, for goodness sake. A puzzle probably wasn’t the best challenge for her to shine. Bless her heart. You gotta love her! When she rode off into the sunset, I think everyone wanted to ask, “Do you love it?!” just because that was her thing. Cody and Hunter turned this log puzzle into a straight muscle contest within minutes. It was like, “Who can carry the most logs at one time?” So funny, but so intense and entertaining at the same time. It really came down to the wire between the two of them. By the skin of his teeth, Cody won!
Even though Cowboy was technically the first veteran to leave, Hunter became the first veteran to go home. Now the veteran guy alliance was down to four, because after that night everyone knew Cody was out for blood. Things were about to get crazy!
