Marchesa’s Fall 2016 collection felt purely magical as the dresses floated down the runway, begging for a major red carpet moment — and with the Oscars right around the corner, I wouldn’t be surprised if these luxurious looks make their red carpet debut in mere days at the Academy Awards!
The Marchesa Fall 2016 show was nothing short of extravagant — in fact, it felt like stepping into an enchanted forest as ethereal frocks came down the runway during New York Fashion Week on Feb. 17. With NYFW winding down and the temperature being less than ideal here in NYC, it’s easy to begin to feel fatigued by all of the fashion — but the Marchesa show revived our senses and left us wide-eyed as flowing, floor-sweeping gowns and voluminous silhouettes brought drama and decadence to the runway.
The designers were inspired by artist John Singer Sargent and “the ultra-feminine strength of the woman that Sargent celebrated in his work.” Embellished fringe detailing, intricate embroidery, silk flowers and marabou feathers adorned dresses — the designs were literally out of this world! Some of the silhouettes and detailing, like the brocade, seemed fit for dinner at the Downton Abbey house — and we loved it. The accessories were just as glamorous, as crystal-encrusted earrings practically reached the model’s shoulders.
Marchesa is a go-to on the red carpet, especially during awards season, with everyone from Sofia Vergara to Blake Lively, Amy Adams, Bella Thorne and Zendaya donning the dresses — and they definitely will be among the first to show off the latest looks from the Fall 2016 line.
