Christian Siriano debuted one of his best collections ever when he sent his Fall 2016 line down the runway. Along with his stunning, red-carpet-worthy gowns there were sumptuous knits and formal separates — and you can check it out right here before some of your fave celebs debut the looks!
Christian Siriano unveiled his Fall 2016 collection during New York Fashion Week on Feb. 13, which also happened to be one of the coldest days ever on record in NYC — and inside, every woman would’ve loved to slip into one of the sexy sweater dresses and woven knits that came down the runway. While we’re used to seeing a sea of black clothing come fall and winter, there’s no reason why one should commit to a dark uniform — and the designer exhibited that perfectly with a bold, bright color palette infused with prints and bright red and chartreuse hues.
The designer was inspired by artist Sheila Hicks‘ ‘Art of the Yarn’ exhibit. He played with texture and manipulated it in a way which looked feminine, formal, sumptuous and chic — certainly not the first thing you would typically think of when you hear cable knit, but that’s exactly why we loved the looks — it was because he put his signature spin on the designs.
While he’s known for crafting gorgeous, red-carpet-ready gowns, he proved that a dress isn’t required when trying to achieve an effortless, formal look. Jackets, (with billowing trains), paired with matching trousers looked amazing as they came down the runway — and considering Solange Knowles is such a fan of the designer’s chic separates, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the silhouette or even a jumpsuit.
As much as we loved the sumptuous knits, we were most excited when the models stepped out in one breathtaking gown after another. A vibrant silk chartreuse with a severe slit is just dying for a red carpet moment, while the printed frocks seemed perfect for Siriano fan Lupita Nyong’o. Not only is the talented actress known for her stellar red carpet style, but she loves to take risks — and these vibrant gowns were made for someone that oozes confidence and class, just like Lupita.
From the vibrant hues and texture to the statement-making silhouettes and eye-catching color palette, we couldn’t tear our eyes away from the runway as the models came out to take their final bow to David Bowie‘s “Fashion” — and neither could the star-studded front row, which included everyone from Naya Rivera to Jamie King.
