What a touching tribute! Chris Stapleton honored the late B.B. King at the 2016 Grammy Awards, also joined by Bonnie Raitt and Gary Clark Jr. to make for an unbelievable performance. Check out a clip here!
When it comes to paying tribute to a blues legend like B.B. King, hiring a country singer for the job may seem a bit strange. But when Chris Stapleton, 37, took the Grammy stage to perform a salute to the late B.B., he made any doubts immediately subside — his performance was incredible! And with help from guitar masters Gary Clark Jr. and Bonnie Raitt, Chris’ tribute was better than anything we could’ve imagined to honor B.B.!
As black and white videos of B.B. played on the screen in the background, Chris belted out “The Thrill Is Gone” with Gary and Bonnie. All three of them rocked on electric guitars, providing the perfect amount of soul and blues to their live rendition of B.B.’s Grammy-winning tune! Watch part of the performance below!

B.B. passed away at 89 years old in May 2015 after dealing with complications from diabetes, Alzheimers disease, and congestive heart failure. He left behind quite the legacy in the music world, and Chris, Bonnie, and Gary did an amazing job reminding everyone of that!
Although Chris is a country singer, he has plenty of blues influence that made him the perfect person to honor B.B. Besides, he blew us away with his performance with Justin Timberlake at the CMAs, so we knew he wouldn’t let us or B.B. down!
It wasn’t just Chris’ fantastic performance that made his Grammy night spectacular. He was nominated for four awards, two for his album, Traveller, and two for his song “Traveller” too. Even before the show started, he was awarded his first Grammy for “Traveller,” and then he won Best Country Album shortly into the show! Between his performance and his big win, it’s clear that Chris isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
