After reigniting his feud with Taylor Swift, 25, and staging his long-awaited Yeezy Season 3 fashion show during New York Fashion Week, Kanye West, 38, ended his headline-making week with an appearance on Saturday Night Live and as expected, it was a lot more than just your average two-song performance. Showing off his comedic chops in a hilarious skit with cast member Kyle Mooney, Kanye poked fun at his own ego for once by rapping about how much he really loves himself in a brand-spanking new song called “I Miss The Old Kanye.” Click here to watch!
We still can’t believe that Kanye actually did this! After performing his new song “High Lights” on the SNL stage, the rapper decided to show off his humorous side by joining Kyle for a hilarious sketch, which saw the two square off in an actual freestyle battle. After Kyle’s feeble attempts to diss Kanye (“Kanye West, you need a mint for your Kanye breath,” he raps), Yeezy fired back with a song that was of course, all about himself, because, sure. Except, the lyrics were actually from his new song “I Miss The Old Kanye,” which includes the self-referential line, “I love you like Kanye loves Kanye.” See the full lyrics for yourself below:
“I miss the old Kanye, chop up the soul Kanye
Straight from the gold Kanye ill with the flow Kanye
I hate the new Kanye, the always rude Kanye
The bad mood Kanye, spaz in the news Kanye
I miss the sweet Kanye, chop up the beats Kanye
I’d like to say at that time I’d like to meet Kanye
See I invented Kanye, there wasn’t any Kanyes
And now I look and look around and there’s so many Kanye’s
I used to love Kanye, I used to love Kanye
I even had the pink polo, I thought I was Kanye
What if Kanye made a song about Kanye
Called “I Miss The Old Kanye”
Man that would be so Kanye, that’s all it was Kanye
We still love Kanye and I love you like Kanye loves Kanye”

Of course, the song was just a lead up to main event: the surprise release of his album! That’s right, just when you thought you were never going to get your hands on The Life Of Pablo, Kanye released it to the masses following his last performance of the night.
We were expecting the album after he played half of it at his NYFW show at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, Feb. 11 in New York City. But he actually went on Twitter on Saturday morning to explain what the hold up was. “It’s Chance’s fault the album not out yet… he really wanted Waves on that Bitch… we in the lab now…,” he tweeted at 1:35AM on Saturday. Chance the Rapper responded ten minutes later, writing: “I fought everyone to keep Waves on the album. I spent all night finishing it. The world is better because of it.”
As previously reported, this has been a huge week for the “Wolves” rapper. On top of staging his hotly-anticipated Yeezy 3 fashion show/album listening party, Kanye also made headlines when he seemingly reignited his feud with Taylor. Despite having made peace with her in 2015, Kanye decided to stir up the bad blood between them when he called her out in his new song “Famous,” saying he thinks they “might have sex” and that he “made that bitch famous.” Needless to say, the Internet was not happy with his lyrics and many, including some from Taylor squad, took to social media to slam the diss track.
As expected, Kanye wasn’t going to just take the criticism lying down. In true Kanye-fashion, he took to Twitter to unleash yet another multi-tweet rant, in which he not only insisted that Tay knew about the lyrics and thought it was “funny,” but that she was also the one who gave him the idea for it! What can we say, it’s never a dull day when Kanye’s around!
