As Joey Feek continues her heartbreaking battle with cancer, she shared a heartwarming Valentine’s Day moment with her daughter, Indiana, in her hospice bed. She posted a sweet picture kissing her little girl — see it here.
Joey Feek‘s hospice room was bursting with love on Valentine’s Day, as her daughter, Indiana, joined her to celebrate the holiday. The 40-year-old country singer is seeing her final days in her battle with terminal cancer, but was able to spend some quality time with Indiana on Feb. 14. Joey surely received some kisses from her husband and valentine, Rory Feek, but it was the kiss from her baby girl that melted hearts.
In the early morning of Valentine’s Day, Joey shared an Instagram pic with Indiana giving a cute smooch to her mom while they lie in Joey’s hospice bed. “…Happy Valentine’s Day mama,” Joey captioned the picture. How sweet is that?
As if the time Joey got to spend with Indiana wasn’t touching enough, her husband also had an amazing day planned for the two of them. Rory revealed that their first date was on February 14, 2002, which means Valentine’s Day will always hold a special place in their hearts. With Joey’s ailing health, Rory knew he couldn’t have a romantic candle-lit dinner with her like they used to do, but he found a way to make the day as incredible as can be.
“So my hope this year instead is to hold her hand and take her on a ‘virtual’ walk down memory lane together…with pictures and videos on my laptop. I want to take her back to where our lives first began together, and relive this beautiful journey that God has taken us on…from that first song she heard me sing at the Bluebird cafe, to the last one we sang together as we stood on stage and took our final bow… to the songs that she will leave behind here on earth and the ones she will soon sing for eternity to our sweet Lord in that heavenly choir up yonder,” he wrote in his blog.
He continued, “A trip down memory lane together…That, and I’m hoping for a few soft kisses. The passion for each other that Joey and I once had has been replaced by the sweetest, gentlest kisses. I live for those kisses. They are enough.” Hours after Joey and Indiana shared their kiss, Rory shared a picture of his celebration with his love — and boy did it look like he pulled off one heck of a memorable day!
After sharing a special day of love together, Rory and Joey will hopefully get to celebrate a Grammy win just one day later on Feb. 15. They’re nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song, “If I Needed You,” and even fellow country artist Blake Shelton is rooting for it! As Joey’s remaining days are numbered, it’s amazing to see them still be able to share such special moments — especially with little Indiana too!
HollywoodLifers, send your love to Joey as she continues her brave battle with cancer, and also send her and Rory good luck to win the Grammy!
