At BCBG, flawless skin was in. Makeup artist Jay Manual told me the look was based on a ‘filtered finish’ — find out how to look just like a model below.
“We wanted to celebrate healthy and balmy skin with our perfecting Filter Finish Collection that gives the illusion of flawlessness,” makeup artist Jay Manual told me about the inspiration and look at the BCBG Fall 2016 show on Feb. 11.
“The muse for the look and the collection is a dancer/artist. She’s always on-the-go, true to herself and holding onto that youthful, playful spirit in a grown-up world,” Jay added.
Along with makeup artist Val Garland, the look centered around perfect skin. To get that, they used Jay Manuel Beauty Filter Finish Collection Skin Perfector Foundation.
Val created a customized eye look that was glossy using Jay Manuel Beauty Filter Finish Collection Skin Face Lift in Platinum, VIP, or Gold (depending on model’s skin tone) mixed with Jay Manuel Beauty The Ultimate Lip Gloss in Wet, and topped with one swipe of Jay Manuel Beauty Crème Liner in Captive.
Eyes were then layered with a metallic eyeshadow. They then used Jay Manuel Beauty Intense Color Eyeshadow Quad in Promiscuous, Tempt or Crave (depending on model’s skin tone).
BCBG Runway — Hair & Makeup How To
Lead hairstylist Orlando Pita described the inspiration for the undone hair:
“We wanted the hair to have a haphazard natural beauty and not feel too pretty or done. Lubov Azria was inspired by dancers this season so there is a shimmer and sparkle in the collection alongside a sportswear influence. The girls feel like performers taking to the stage so each one has her own unique wave that celebrates her hair’s natural texture.”
Here’s the how to using TRESemme products:
“Step 1: Start with the Beauty-Full Volume reverse wash system. First, use the Pre-Wash Conditioner to soften the hair, followed by the Shampoo to wash away weight.
Step 2: Apply a quarter-sized amount of the Beauty-Full Volume Maximizer to the roots and rough dry the hair.
Step 3: Spray Beauty-Full Volume hairspray and brush out with a soft bristle brush.”
“Step 4: Pull random 1 inch sections from the crowd and twist around a 1 inch curling iron, starting 2 inches down from the roots and leaving the ends straight.
Step 5: Brush out the curls with a soft bristle brush to create subtle movement and volume.
Step 6: Finish by spraying Beauty-Full Volume Hairspray for touchable hold.”
