Katherine McNamara sat down with HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY to talk about her relationship with her ‘Shadhowhunters’ co-stars, how she prepared for her role as Clary Fray and why we’ve ‘barely scraped’ the surface of what’s to come, here.
Shadowhunters fans, listen up! Katherine McNamara, aka Clary Fray stopped by to chat EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife.com about everything Mortal Instruments! She let us in on her surprising relationship with her costars, how she got ready to be Clary and why we’ve only seen the “tip of the iceberg” so far! Listen to the full podcast, here.
When it comes to Shadowhunters, we ain’t seen nothin’ yet. At least that’s what Katherine told us when she sat down EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife.com for our podcast. Katherine is desperate for the show to continue for a long time because Clary has a lot in store. “We’ve barely scraped the tip of the iceberg as to her growth and her development as she becomes this warrior. I really do hope to continue this journey, not only with these people but with these characters and to see where it goes.” We hope so too!
Katherine explains that there’s such a dramatic change in characters because the actors themselves are changing. “It takes place over maybe a couple of weeks, but for us it was six months. So we’re completely different people from where we begin and where we end the show and you can see that distinction. But it works because these characters go through a lot, so it does age them in a different way than it would otherwise.”
We’ve gotta keep an eye on Magnus and Alec, because Katherine says they’re going to be a serious thing! “Alec, when he meets Magnus, he’s kind of faced with this realization of what he could actually be, and that his feelings, maybe they’re not wrong and maybe he needs to act on them. It’s really an amazing arch – it’s my favorite ship on the show, Malec.” Ours too! (Except Clary and Jace, of course).
She also let us in on a little secret about why Clark has such a hard time choosing between Jace and Simon. “Each one represents a side of who she is. Jace represents her shadowhunter side and helps her navigate through this world and pushes her to become this warrior, whereas Simon represents her humanity and knows her better than she knows herself and keeps her sane throughout everything. So really it’s extremely difficult for her to choose between the two of them.” Ah! That makes so much sense!
