The biggest names in music are awarded year after year at the Grammy Awards, but you’ll be SHOCKED at who didn’t win for some of their best songs and albums of all time. Click through the gallery to check out the singers who’ve been majorly snubbed at the show!
The Grammys are coming up on Feb. 15, and we can’t wait to who takes home the big awards this year. But with so many great artists up in the same categories this year, there are sure to be some snubs — which is nothing new at the annual awards show. Check out some of the all-time biggest Grammys snubs right here!
Let’s start with some specifics. Kanye West, 38, has won many awards at the show, but we have to say, the committee missed the mark quite a few times at the 2005 show. Even though he won for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Album, he failed to take home honors for Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. COME ON, it was the year of College Dropout! And just like that album ruled 2004, Taylor Swift’s Red was EVERYTHING in 2013, but she lost Album of the Year to Daft Punk. Sorry…who?
And how about Amy Winehouse? She was up for SIX awards in 2008, and she deservingly won five of them. But whose decision could it have possibly been to give Album of the Year to Herbie Hancock instead of Amy?! On the opposite end of the spectrum, there’s Drake, who’s been nominated many, many, many times since 2010 — and has only won ONCE, for Best Rap Album in 2013. With five nominations in 2016, hopefully this’ll be his year to pick up a few more.
Eminem, Elton John, Elvis and Madonna all have something in common when it comes to the Grammys…and it’s not that they’ve all won multiple of them. These artists are legendary, but can you believe NONE of them have ever won one of the Top 4 honors — Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year or Best New Artist — at the show? Pretty crazy, right?!
Possibly even more shocking is this: Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg have all NEVER WON A GRAMMY, period! Before this year, they were nominated a total of 13, 7 and 16 times, respectively, but no Grammy has ever been won between them. And perhaps one of the craziest wins of all time was this: the 1980 Album of the Year went to Christopher Cross…meaning Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Barbara Sterisand and Pink Floyd ALL lost. How is that possible!?
HollywoodLifers, which Grammy snub do you think was the worst of all time? Do you think there will be any bad ones this year?
