Move over Beyonce! UCLA Gymnast Sophina DeJesus slayed her floor routine while putting all the greatest dancers to shame. Watch the viral video here!
UCLA gymnast Sophina DeJesus, 21, has become an overnight sensation! Her latest floor routine will have Beyonce, 34, and Janet Jackson’s, 49, jaw dropping to their knees! Check out the amazing routine here.
While everyone was watching Beyonce’s Super Bowl 50 performance, Sophina was busy killing her floor routine at her gymnastics competition at UCLA. Her routine consisted of the whip, nae nae, hitting the quan and many other hip-hop moves, in between perfectly executed flips and somersaults. The cutest part was seeing her teammates on the side line doing the moves with her in support. Now that’s team work!
We have never seen anyone combine these kind of dance moves in a gymnastics routine before! One thing we know for sure is that this girl has talent. Even the crowd’s energy was on another level during her performance. Most importantly, Sophina’s routine even impressed judges, who gave the gymnast a near perfect score of 9.925, which equals her career best. Wow, great job!
But where did Sophina learn all these moves from? To no surprise, the gymnast does have a dance and acting background. At age 12, she performed on the TV show Hip Hop Harry. “He was like Barney, but a hip-hop bear,” says Sophia to Bruin TV.
The video of her routine has already broken the internet, landing more than 19 million views and has been shared on Facebook 400,000 times! “I wanted to end my senior year with a bang,” Sophina says. Well, she definitely accomplished her goal and ended it with a bang!
The best part about Sophina’s routine is that she helped her team come back from behind and take home the win! She says that if she is selected for future meets, she plans to continue doing her routine. We will definitely look forward to seeing it from this talented gymnast!
