So sad! Golden Globe winner Brie Larson may be getting love and support from her friends and fans, but not so much from her very own father. HollywoodLife.com has all the details here.
Oscar-nominated Room star, Brie Larson, 26, has a lot to be proud about these days! With all her success, you think she would be getting support from her family, especially her father. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Read more to find out why.
Brie hasn’t spoken to her father in 10 years, according to Elle’s March cover story on thegorgeous actress. Her parents divorced when she was very young. “When legally I didn’t have to have visitation with him anymore, I jumped on it,” Brie shared to Elle. “As a kid I tried to understand him and understand the situation. But he didn’t do himself any favors. I don’t think he ever really wanted to be a parent.” Wow, that is heartbreaking.
Sadly, that negativity affected Brie’s personal life as well as her career choices. “It wasn’t until truly recently that I realized that’s why so much of my work was so volatile,” she says. “All of the stuff I wasn’t dealing with in my actual life — all of this anger, my fears and my vulnerabilities — I didn’t feel comfortable expressing because I felt like it was part of the human code that when we’re out in the public space, everyone’s perfect and good, and we’re all nice women, and we dress well and we brush our hair and agree with these customs.”
Brie is one tough cookie! Despite all the pain she’s gone through with her family, she continues to defy the odds in Hollywood. She has won a Golden Globe, SAG Award, Critic’s Choice Award and we are keeping our fingers crossed for Oscar night! We think Brie has only scratched the surface of her career.
