This is horrible! Hugh Jackman announced on Twitter that his skin cancer has returned in the form of Basal Cell Carcinoma on his nose. Click through to see the scary, shocking tweet!
Poor Hugh Jackman! The actor, who battled skin cancer before, announced on Twitter February 8 that he has Basal Cell Carcinoma, a skin cancer located on his nose — the same place it was in 2013. He warned his followers to use sunscreen in the shocking tweet. Click through to see the scary picture, and his urgent message!
“An example of what happens when you don’t use sunscreen. Basal cell. Mildest form of cancer. USE SUNSCREEN PLEASE !!,” Hugh captioned his tweet, which included a selfie of the actor wearing a huge bandage on his nose. Hugh is referring to Basal Cell Carcinoma, the skin cancer he had previously, which presents itself as a small lump or brown scaly patch on the skin, most commonly on sun-exposed areas like the face and neck. That’s why Hugh so fervently told his followers to slather on the sunscreen!

Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer, so Hugh is not alone in his battle! Treatment includes medicinal cream and surgery, which it appears Hugh has had; he underwent several procedures in 2013 to remove four BCC growths: three from his nose, one from his shoulder. Poor thing!
When he was diagnosed in 2014, he talked to PEOPLE about the ordeal, and said, “Being an Australian [skin cancer] is a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it.” After that, he became an outspoken advocate for skin cancer awareness, and even launched a sunscreen for kids called Pure Sun Defense! We wish Hugh the best of luck in this new struggle, and hope for a speedy recovery!
