She’s so sweet! Lady Gaga has done a lot of monumental things throughout her illustrious career, but during a recent interview with NFL.com, she said that singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl is a ‘dream come true.’ Watch the video here!
Forget about performing at the Grammys or the Academy Awards. For Lady Gaga, singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 7, “is kind of the ultimate,” she revealed in an interesting new interview. Watch it here!
“I’ve always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl… it is kind of the ultimate,” she told NFL.com in a new interview before saying she watched singers performing the song as a little girl.
“For me, it was Whitney Houston,” she replied when asked if there was one performer who stood out to her the most. “When I was little, I used to stand at the top of my staircase and sing her version. At home, the more I would sing it, the more my dad would be like, ‘You’re getting pretty good, kid.’ So now, to sing it to America, it’s wonderful.”
“This is one of the highest honors of my career.”

And when Nate Burleson asked if fans should expect any surprises during her performance, she said, “I think [singing the National Anthem] marks what being an American is all about — working hard and the ultimate payoff for the champion is hard work. I think the best way to do that is forget about yourself, and just focus on what it means.” It sounds like she’ll go a traditional route during her performance.
