OMG, you guys have to see all these furry little fluffballs. Ahead of the Super Bowl, animal fans can get a little treat of their own thanks to the Puppy Bowl, a version of the big game for, of course, puppies! Click through the gallery to check out all the dogs competing this year.
The 2016 Puppy Bowl is just about here! In preparation for the Super Bowl on Feb. 7, some of the cutest dogs in the world are competing in a fun game of their own — and we have pics of all the furry contestants. Click through the gallery to check ’em out!
The Puppy Bowl airs on Animal Planet at 3:00 ET, just hours ahead of when the Carolina Panther and Denver Broncos will kick off in the 2016 Super Bowl. The event runs for two hours (with commercials), and at the 1 hour 15 minute mark, there’s a brief, 30 minute halftime show featuring a variety of kittens playing around. SOOO cute!
An emphasis is put on adopting pets from shelters during this event, and although no winner is named, every year has an MVP. The first Puppy Bowl took place in 2005, and it’s been a fun annual event ever since. And, don’t worry — there are always vets and representatives from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on-hand to make sure the animals are all being well-treated and to offer care just in case anything happens.
The puppies allowed in the show are between 12 and 21 weeks old, and although it’s all for fun, there is a commentator giving play-by-play throughout the event to give it a real sports feel. And, if you’re more of a cat person, there’s more than just the halftime show for you to look forward to: Hallmark Channel broadcasts the Kitten Bowl at 12:oo ET! This is a much newer event, which just began in 2014, but is still equally as cute and exciting.
