The ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival is really happening, and so many details about this highly-anticipated reunion have been revealed. Here’s EVERYTHING we know and what you need to know about the revival! Spoilers ahead!
It’s time to go back to Stars Hollow! Lorelai, Rory and more of the original cast are set to return for the Gilmore Girls revival. Key information about the revival continues to unfold, and we’ve made a list of everything we know about this epic Gilmore Girls reunion!
1. Four of the original cast members are back.
2. One of Rory’s boyfriends is returning.
For those of you who are Team Jess and Team Dean, you’re out of luck — for now. Matt Czuchry is returning as Logan Huntzberger for the revival, our sister site TVLine first reported. But don’t lose hope completely about Dean and Jess. “Our plan is to get as many of the lovely men back as possible. We’ve also had certain storylines we had to [tweak] because, apparently, there are still budgetary restrictions in Hollywood,” series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told TVLine.
3. Melissa McCarthy is probably not coming back.
Everyone knows Melissa McCarthy as Sookie, and we all want to see her return. However, Melissa said that “no one asked me or Sookie” to return for the revival. However, Amy told TVLine that she would love to have Melissa back if she was available.
4. Every episode will be titled after a season.
The revival will feature four 90-minute episodes and will be titled after a season. The first episode will be titled “Winter.”
5. It will take place 8 years after the finale.
The Gilmore Girls revival will find the gang back in action eight years after the series finale.
6. The final four words.
Fans have been wanting to know the final four words of the series for years. Amy has known the final four words of the series before her seventh season departure, and now she has a chance to hear them uttered. And, yes, Lauren does know the four words now.
“I asked her, ‘Who says them?’ And she says, ‘Both of you.’ That’s all I can say. It’s not, you know, in unison,” Lauren told TVLine, before adding that the four words are an “exchange.”
7. New characters will be in the mix.
Peruvian couple Berta and Alejandro will be two of the new characters on the show, according to E! Online. Alejandro is a “handyman and a solid family man.” Nat Compton will also be new, and he’s a guy who never smiles. Other new characters will include 13-year-old Dewey, Clementina, a Portuguese nanny, 7-year-old Tim and his 5-year-old sister Gabriela and 9-year-old Korean-American twins Stevie and Kwan.
8. How will Edward Herrmann’s death be explained?
Edward passed away in Dec. 2015. He sadly won’t be in the revival, but Edward’s presence will be felt. Emily is a grieving widow when the revival picks up, and she’s not in the best state. “Well, because of the fact that Emily lost her husband, she’s kind of a raw nerve,” Kelly told TVLine. “In a desperate attempt to push through [her grief], she blows between right on the edge of losing it to almost being a little manic.”
