Butterfinger is going bold this Super Bowl Sunday! For its new teaser promoting its upcoming TV spot, the brand tapped Terrell Owens and Bill Eichner to hit the streets in search of fans with #BolderThanBold touchdown dance moves — what they found was both awkward and hilarious. Watch it here!
The Super Bowl is going to be #BolderThanBold this year thanks to Butterfinger! In addition to airing a new commercial during the third quarter of the big game, the brand has also just released a hilarious new teaser starring NFL superstar Terrell Owens and Billy on the Street star Bill Eichner. In the clip, the two team up and hit the streets of New York City in search of fans with bold touchdown dance moves and needless to say, the results as pretty hilarious. Click here to see the clip!
First things first, this isn’t your average ad campaign. In addition to tapping Armando Bo, co-writer of the movie Birdman, to direct its official Super Bowl commercial, Butterfinger has announced that it will cover up to $50,000 in excessive celebration fines levied against NFL players through Super Bowl 50. Pretty cool, right? Well, as if that weren’t exciting enough, the the Nestlé brand just released an all-new teaser video starring the Billy on the Street host and former NFL wide receiver to help make the announcement. In the 4-minute-long clip, the duo hit the streets of New York and, in Billy’s classic style, asked people to show off their boldest end-zone celebrations in exchange for a Butterfinger.
While the guys were able to get plenty of unassuming pedestrians to stop and dance on the streets (which is really a feat in and of itself given that this is New York that we’re talking about), not everyone had the moves to back it up. Of course to be fair, this was all taking place in front of Terrell, who is one of the NFL’s most famous touchdown dancers of all time. And naturally, Terrell couldn’t resist showing off a few of his most popular moves, including a very smooth interpretation of the “Cabbage Patch” dance. “That’s right, that’s the “Cabbage Patch,” there’s nothing bolder than a dancer 10-year-old white girls do,” Billy jokes while storming off in his signature manner.
Butterfinger kicked off its “Bolder Than Bold” campaign by asking a professional skydiver to announce the brand’s return to the Super Bowl after completing a 12,000-foot jump. While no further details have been released about the campaign that will air on game day, the brand continues to promise at least one thing: it will be, that’s right, bold.
