OMG! ‘Grease: Live’ was so incredible, but we picked out the top five BEST moments of the entire show.
1.) ‘Greased Lightning’ Performance
Aaron Tveit, Carlos Pena, and the T-Birds totally nailed this incredible performance! From the moment Danny ripped off his leather jacket to the additional female dancers joining the guys, “Greased Lightning” was out of this world. Plus, how can we forget to mention that epic costume change? The guys went from dirty grey mechanic jumpsuits to sparkles and back again in the blink of an eye!
2.) The ‘Hand Jive’ Performance
If your jaw wasn’t on the floor during the “Hand Jive,” we must not have been watching the same show. The entire cast of Grease: Live joined forces in the Rydell High gymnasium for an all-star dance-off! With Joe Jonas and DNCE on the stage, Julianne Hough, Keke Palmer, Vanessa Hudgens, and more laid it out on the floor like total pros.
3.) Vanessa Hudgens Singing ‘There Are Worse Things I Could Do’
Seriously, where has Vanessa been hiding that incredible voice? Yes, we knew she could sing — but that was another level. She sounded fantastic, and given the circumstances — her father died just one day before the show — she got through it like a total champ. Vanessa, your father must be very proud of you!
4.) Patty Simcox
Praise is deserved for Elle McLemore, the actress behind the hyperactive and slightly strung out Patty Simcox. The young musical theater actress was a total knock out in her performance, nailing each and every insane Patty moment, especially the scene where her skirt accidentally comes off at the dance! Elle’s Patty was a true delight throughout the show and we hope to see more of her very soon.
5.) The ‘Grease: Live’ Carnival Finale
Few things in he original Grease film are as iconic as the final scenes in which Danny and Sandy come together at the graduation carnival. Despite a rainy Los Angeles and soundstage, the cast and crew made their way outside for a huge finale that included real carnival rides like a ferris wheel and a fun house! Once again the entire cast and crew, led by the incredible Aaron and Julianne, came together for a truly heartwarming performance that was filled with nostalgia. Plus, you could actually feel the excitement from the cast as they were finally able to step outside after the rain and end the show they worked so hard on the right way!
Honorable mentions go to Julianne’s “Hopelessly Devoted,” Vanessa’s “Sandra Dee,” Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie, and Ana Gasteyer‘s hilarious performance as Principal McGee!
