It was a very touching moment when Susan Sarandon took the stage at the 2016 SAG Awards to remember the great actors we lost in the past year.
We were so happy to see Alan Rickman, David Bowie and other notable Hollywood stars recognized for their amazing work. It’s so sad that so many talented people passed away this past year but like Susan Sarandon said, their work will live on forever.
Susan took the stage and introduced a very moving video with clips from our favorite stars who have died. Also in the tribute was Al Molinaro and Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy, who passed away in February. The actor played Mr. Spock and died at the age of 83.
David shockingly died after quietly battling cancer for a year. He passed away at his home in NYC at the age of 69. Just a few days before his death he released his last album, Blackstar. Alan also died at the age of 69 in January of 2016, after battling cancer too. The Harry Potter star’s death came as a shock. He was best known for his movies like: Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, and A Little Chaos.
It’s always so sad when our favorite actors are no longer with us. But without their contributions to Hollywood, we wouldn’t have their amazing legacy left behind for us. It was truly such a special night with so many wonderful actors being recognized for their hard work in the past year. We’re so glad that they did the in memoriam tribute because we can’t move forward unless we pay tribute to those who paved the way before us.
HollywoodLifers, we’re so happy that such great actors were recognized.
