Congratulations to ‘Orange Is The New Black!’ The Netflix comedy’s cast took home the statue for Outstanding TV Comedy Cast at the SAG Awards on Jan. 30 — for the second year in a row!
Orange Is The New Black snagged the award for Outstanding Cast in a TV Comedy Cast at the at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, on Jan. 30! The much-talked about Netflix series about a women’s prison beat out some of the most hilarious acts on TV for the honor and we have to say, the incredibly talented cast definitely deserved it.
Patricia Arquette and J.K. Simmons named the nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a TV Comedy, and seemed overjoyed to announce Orange Is The New Black as the eventual victor. Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause, took the stage along with costars Uzo Aduba, Laverne Cox, and Samira Wiley to accept the award from Patricia and J.K. and gave a heartfelt speech about her love for their fans. We love you too Laura!
As the cast of the critically acclaimed show accepted their Actor, it was clear that they were all so excited. They hugged one another and couldn’t stop smiling at Laura as she thanked their crew and adoring fans.
It’s no secret that the competition was stiff this year as Orange Is The New Black was up against The Big Bang Theory, Key & Peele, Transparent, Veep, and four-time winner Modern Family. But OITNB reigned supreme for the second year in a row — wow this cast in on a ROLL!
But this wasn’t the only big win for the cast, earlier in the night actress Uzo Aduba won an SGA for Most Outstanding Actress in a TV Comedy — also HER second year in a row winning the prestigious title. We’re so happy for this brilliant cast and hope they have a phenomenal time celebrating tonight!
We can’t really argue with OITNB taking home the big prize. The show is so darn funny! But what do you think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think they deserved it or was your favorite show robbed?
