Congratulations are in order! Despite having four amazingly talented women as competition, Brie Larson managed to win the SAG Award for outstanding female lead actor in a movie on Jan. 30. Here’s the scoop.
Yay, Brie Larson! The gorgeous actress beat out four brilliant actresses to take home the award for outstanding female lead actor in a movie at the SAG Awards on Jan. 30 for her portrayal in Room. We have all the details on her sweet speech, right here.
It was amazing feat to win Lead Actress this year because it was certainly very stiff competition. Cate Blanchett in Carol, Helen Mirren in Woman in Gold, Saoirse Ronan in Brooklyn and Sarah Silverman in I Smile Back all gave next-level amazing performances that deserved major recognition, but we definitely think they made the right choice because Brie Larson was simply amazing in Room.
“Thank you, this is so incredible,” she said in her precious speech. “I feel like I was born questioning everything about reality, feeling lost and alone and always worried that I was deeply unlovable and watching your movies, to all of you SAG members, you made me feel like I was less alone and that was a safe place to explore my creativity so thank you.” Aw!
However, our favorite part is when she thanked “my wonderful boyfriend Alex, I love you so much” and the camera cut to Alex who was mouthing I love you too. So sweet! We’re seriously so happy for Brie. As a first time attendee of the SAG Awards, she so deserves this win.
