OMG this is CRAZY! Zayn Malik has announced the release date for his first solo album, ‘Pillowtalk,’ and it falls on the EXACT one year anniversary of when he left One Direction. The shade is SO real!
Well, it’s happening — Zayn Malik, 23, will officially put One Direction in the past by releasing his first album, Mind of Mine, on March 25…exactly one year after he announced he was leaving the boy band for good. Do you guys think this is just a coincidence…or a total diss at the band that made him famous?!
On the same day that the 23-year-old dropped his new single — and SUPER hot video featuring Gigi Hadid — “Pillowtalk,” he also revealed that his debut solo record will drop on March 25 , which is the same exact day as his exit from the band in 2015. Since going solo, Zayn hasn’t been shy about admitting how wrong he felt during his time in the band, so this is definitely a pretty bold statement for him to make.
During a Jan. 28 interview, Zayn announced the title of his album, Mind of Mine, and dished on what we can expect from some of the songs that will be featured on it. At least one of those tracks, “It’s You,” is about his ex, Perrie Edwards, 22. “I just felt like I needed to put myself out there on that,” he explained. “Just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help me get through some s**t.”
The singer admitted to writing over 40 songs for the album, and said the track list will include a whopping 17-18 of them. The record will feature the previously announced song “BeFour,” as well as titles like, “She,” a party song about having a good time, and “Wrong,” which was originally written as a rap and tells the story of someone looking in the wrong place for love. We’re already BEYOND obsessed with “Pillowtalk,” so we can’t wait to see what else he puts out there!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Zayn releasing his album one year after he left One Direction?
