Martin Shkreli is making headlines again, only this time is has nothing to do with his shady pharmaceuticals business. The disgraced CEO recently started an all-out war with rapper Ghostface Killah and now, things are getting ugly! So who is this man who dares to take on the Wu-Tang legend? See below for 5 must-know facts!
If you thought Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa‘s Twitter feud was intense, just wait until you see what’s going on between Martin Shkreli, 32, and Ghostface Killah, 45! The two became embroiled in a nasty feud after the Wu-Tang rapper mocked the pharmaceutical executive and called him out for price-gouging and being an overall “s-t head” in a recent string of interviews. Martin has since responded with a series of aggressive (read: hilarious/embarrassing) videos in which he’s actually threatened to “punish” and “erase” Ghost from “the record books of rap.” But just who exactly is this overly confident exec? Read on to find out five must-know facts!
1. He’s the man responsible for jacking up the prices of people’s cancer/AIDS medication
Martin, then CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals, became one of the most hated men on the Internet back in December after it was revealed that he had jacked up the prices of a life-saving drug called Daraprim, which is used to treat a rare parasitic infection that targets pregnant women and AIDS and cancer patients. The drug had become an essential medication for AIDS and cancer patients, and only cost $1 per pill to make, that is, before Martin decided to raise the drug’s price from $13.50 to $750, seemingly overnight. Just awful.
2. He is currently facing federal charges
Karma eventually got the best of Martin on December 17, 2015 when both he and his attorney, Evan Greebel, were arrested by the FBI on charges of securities fraud. From 2009 to 2012, Martin allegedly defrauded investors of his hedge fund and misrepresented the fund’s assets, liabilities and performance,” according to the Daily News. He is also accused of illegally taking stock and funds from Retrophin Inc, a biotech firm he founded, to pay off the hedge fund’s debts. “As alleged, Martin Shkreli engaged in multiple schemes to ensnare investors through a web of lies and deceit,” said Robert Capers, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a statement. “His plots were matched only by efforts to conceal the fraud, which led him to operate his companies, including a publicly traded company, as a Ponzi scheme, where he used the assets of the new entity to pay off debts from the old entity.” Martin is currently out on a $5 million bail.
3. He is the sol proprietor of the Wu-Tang Clan’s “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” album
Prior to getting into a heated feud with Ghostface Killah, Martin actually made a $2 million deal to acquire the only known copy of the new Wu-Tang album, The Wu — Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. While some fans would do next to anything to own the one-of-a-kind secret album, Martin has actually used it to taunt Ghostface since the start of their beef. In his latest video released to TMZ, Martin even threatens to “erase” the rapper from the album completely, if he doesn’t stop talking about him to the press. “If you ever say some dumb s— again —this album, this ‘Shaolin’? I’m gonna erase all your s— from this album,” he says, as one of his goons holds up the rare album’s engraved case. “I’m gonna erase you from the record books of rap…Without me, you’re nothing.”
4. Martin isn’t scared of Ghostface and his posse in the slightest — in fact, he thinks he can totally take him
In the previously mentioned video that was released on Jan. 29, Martin, surrounded by three masked men, attempts to play the role of the tough guy, and informs Ghostface that he actually pities the rapper before seemingly threatening his life. “At the end of day I’m very sorry for you,” he says in the video. “Without me you’re nothing. Even though I pity you, I have to give you some punishment. You think you’re the only tough guy in New York City. You don’t know us.”
5. At the end of the day, Martin just really wants an apology from Ghostface
Despite issuing not one, but two aggressive videos, Martin has demanded that Ghostface apologize to him…with a written statement “from the heart!” Taking to Twitter, Martin wrote the following:
As mentioned in my video, I expect a written apology, @GhostfaceKillah. At least 500 words, no grammatical errors and Shaolin stays intact.

Looks like it’s your move, Ghost.
