We feel the need… the need for a sequel! Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer totally teased fans about the ‘Top Gun’ sequel with Jerry’s Jan. 26 Twitter pic. The two got together to ‘discuss’ a little ‘Top Gun 2!’ Is anyone else freaking out?!
It may not be long for Top Gun 2, you guys! Tom Cruise, 53, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, 70, recently had a hangout session to “discuss a little Top Gun 2.” It’s been 30 years since Maverick was on the big screen, and it’s definitely time for him to fly back into theaters!
Jerry posted an awesome pic with Tom on Twitter on Jan. 26. He captioned the photo, “Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2.” Hopefully they discussed a lot of Top Gun 2! We need that sequel NOW!
Top Gun 2 was confirmed in June 2015, and Skydance CEO David Ellison said there was an “amazing role” in store for Maverick in the sequel, our sister site Variety reported. “There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie, and there is no Top Gun without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick,” he said.
Tom is in for the sequel, but he has one condition. “I would like to get back into those jets,” Tom told Reuters at the London premiere of Rogue Nation in July 2015. But he wants to do his own stunts, no questions asked. “I don’t want any CGI jets. I want to shoot it like how we shot the first one.”
Top Gun was released in 1986 and starred Tom, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Tom Skerritt and Anthony Edwards. The movie was a huge blockbuster and grossed more than $175,000,000 in the USA. Let’s hope the original cast can all come back for the sequel!
