Chris Christie made a promise during the Jan. 28 GOP debate that if elected president, Planned Parenthood funding will be the first thing to go. Despite a recent grand jury finding the women’s health organization innocent of selling fetal tissue, the New Jersey governor blasted Planned Parenthood for committing ‘murder in the womb.’
It seems that if there’s anything Chris Christie, 53 hates more than marijuana, it’s Planned Parenthood. The governor from New Jersey turned a question about fiscal policy into a bitter rant against the women’s health organization, even saying those who work for Planned Parenthood are murderers!
During the Jan. 28 debate, Chris was asked where he would cut entitlement spending or how he would trim the government’s budget. Chris quickly responded “How about [what] I’ve done in New Jersey for the last six years and get rid of Planned Parenthood funding for the United States of America.”
While there were cheers from the crowd, moderator Bret Baier asked if there was any part of the federal government bigger than Planned Parenthood funding that President Christie would go after? “Bigger than that?” the New Jersey Governor said. “Let me tell you something, when you see thousands upon thousands of thousands of children being murdered in the womb, I can’t think of anything bigger of that.”
Governor Christie must have missed the news that Planned Parenthood was recently vindicated by a grand jury, according to NPR. A Texas grand jury investigating the claims that the organization sold fetal body parts was not only innocent, but the anti-abortion activists whose fraudulent videos caused the investigation — David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt – were being indicted for felony charges.

This isn’t the first time Chris has gone after Planned Parenthood. During the Sept. 16 GOP debate, Chris said that his fellow Republicans should be willing to shut down the government in order to close every single Planned Parenthood clinic. “We got to talk about what we would be willing to shut down for. We elected a Republican Congress to do this. And they should be doing it, and they’re not. And they’re giving the president a pass.”
Chris isn’t the only Republican who vows to cut off all federal funding for the women’s health organization. At the same Sept. 16 debate, Carly Fiorina, 61 cited a now-debunked videos as evidence why she would shut Planned Parenthood down. She even challenged Hillary Clinton, 68, to watch the videos, but perhaps Carly will want to read to the Texas grand jury’s report. Perhaps she and Chris Christie can start a book club together?
Do you agree or disagree with Chris Christie, HollywoodLifers? Do you think that Planned Parenthood offers affordable health care to women or commits cold-blooded murder?
