Before she takes on ‘Grease: Live,’ Julianne Hough brought down the dance floor — and has been doing it her entire life! You have to read these not-so-well known facts about the next Sandy.
Dancer? Choreographer? Trio member? Check, check and check. Julianne Hough is definitely a jack of all trades, so we’ve gathered a list of some pretty entertaining things that you may not know about your favorite Dancing with the Stars professional turned judge turned Grease: Live star.
1. Julianne was in a pop group as a kid.
At 10, Julianne and her brother Derek Hough were sent to live and study with their coaches while their parents divorced. Their coaches were the parents of DWTS pro, Mark Ballas and the three became best friends. They formed a pop group, 2B1G — which stood for 2 Boys, 1 Girl.
2. DWTS wasn’t her first competition show.
In 2006, she competed as one of the Million Dollar Dancers on Show Me the Money; the following year, she won season four of Dancing with the Stars with Apolo Ohno. She was the youngest professional dancer to ever win. She also won the following season with Adam Carolla, and was nominated for an Emmy in 2008.
3. Julianne has a successful singing career.
She dropped her first country single “Will You Dance with Me in 2007. Her second single was a huge hit, titled “That Song In My Head.” She dropped her self-titled album in May 2008, and won the Top New Artist award at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards the following year.
4. Julianne’s first acting role was Harry Potter.
Yes really! She appeared as a school girl in in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and from there she went on to many other movies including Burlesque, Footloose, Rock of Ages and Safe Haven.
5. She was in a long-term relationship before Ryan Seacrest.
Many only remember that Julianne dated Ryan from April 2010 to March 2013. However, before that she dated country singer Chuck Wicks for a year and three months until Nov. 2009. She wrote the song “Is That So Wrong?” about him!
