Let’s be real: we’re used to seeing Chad Michael Murray as Lucas Scott or as Jack Thompson. Well his new role is nothing like either one of those — and the director couldn’t be more happy with his transformation.
Outlaws and Angels premiered at Sundance Film Festival this week and we got to sit down with stars Chad Michael Murray, Ben Browder and Keith Loenker, as well as director JT Mollner, all who cannot wait for the world to see this movie about a group of outlaws who head down to Mexico to attempt to cross the border. The chemistry between this team is a can’t-miss one.
“It’s part ultra-violent, home invasion, thriller, love story,” JT said about Outlaws and Angels, which comes out nationally in May. “Chad was the first guy on this movie, and we kind of had to build the cast around him. It wasn’t the type of movie he’s done before, or the type of character he’s really played before, so we kind of transformed him a bit… and the guy’s really really really good.
New dad Chad, 34, was obviously humbled. “This was the best film experience I’ve ever had, honestly,” he said. “In 17 years, this was the most fun, this was the best group of people — everything all around.” While we do see Chad’s backside in an upcoming movie, it’s actually Keith’s we’ll see this time!
“For me, [the movie] was a chance to transition from being an NFL football player who had a lucky chance to be an actor, to act — the chance to ride a horse, ride a donkey, shoot a hand cannon, be naked,” Keith said. “There were so many things that I probably should have never been able to do in my life! For me, that was what its really about.” Well we cannot wait to see this one!
