Yikes! Six months after nearly loosing his entire hand in a horrific fireworks accident, Jason Pierre-Paul has taken to Instagram to share a gruesome photo of just how serious his situation was at the hospital that tragic day. Click here for the pic — although be warned, it’s pretty graphic.
We can’t un-see this. On Jan. 25, New York Giants star Jason Pierre-Paul took to Instagram to share a disturbing photo taken shortly after the infamous July 4th fireworks accident that nearly took his entire hand and ended his NFL career. While it’s been six months now since the scary incident, it appears Jason is just now getting around to showing fans how severe his injuries were that tragic day and guys let us warn you, it’s pretty horrifying. See it here if you dare.
Jason gave fans quite the eye-opening look when he revealed a never-before-seen Instagram photo of himself taken the day after a nasty July 4th fireworks display blew up his hand. In the graphic photo, the Giants’ defensive end is seen lying in a hospital bed while in a complete daze, as his mangled hand remains elevated above his head presumably to help stop the bleeding. The photo, captioned simply, “July 5 I remember,” also shows a look at JPP’s bloody hospital gown, yet another sign of just how serious of an accident it really was.
Miraculously enough though, doctors were eventually able to save Jason’s hand after conducting several surgeries. They were however, forced to amputate his right index finger and parts of some of his other fingers, which caused his thumb to lose mobility. Despite all of that though, JPP did go on to make a full recovery, and was even able to get back on the field with his teammates, missing just the first eight games of the season.
Even without all of his fingers though, JPP was still able to shine, finishing the season with 26 tackles, one sack and two fumble recoveries. Still, despite his performance, recent speculation suggests that Jason may not return to the Giants come next season as he is set to become a free agent in March. Let’s hope in the meantime he’s at least able to keep out of harm’s way — firework related or otherwise.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of JPP’s pic: cool or way to gruesome? Sound off below!
