Magic, sex, and a super hot cast? Those are just a few of the reasons to tune into the epically awesome ‘The Magicians.’ Click inside for MORE!
The Magicians are coming and you’re really, really going to enjoy watching them on the small screen.
1.) Jason Ralph (Quentin Coldwater) Is A Total Hottie
Eye candy? Check. The Magicians has it in their lead, Jason Ralph, who plays socially awkward loner Quentin Coldwater. But, he’s not alone! There’s also the incredibly charming Arjun Gupta and the sweet Hale Appleman who star alongside him, and it’s an all around great time for your eyeballs.
2.) There’s A Levitating Sex Scene
No, you didn’t misread that, it really does say “levitating sex scene.” In the first hour of The Magicians premiere on Jan. 25 at 9pm ET on Syfy, Arjun’s character, Penny, meets Kady (Jade Tailor), in class and they hit things off pretty quickly. One thing leads to another and then… levitating sex. It’s pretty cool, pretty hot, and pretty magical.
3.) You Get Not One, But Three Different Worlds Of Magic
Lovers of the book series written by Lev Grossman know what’s to come, but HollywoodLife.com can safely assure you that there are at the very least three different worlds happening in The Magicians. For starters we have Quentin at Brakebills University, where he’s being properly taught about magic. Then there’s his best friend, Julia (Stella Maeve), learning “underground” magic back home. Last but not least we have Fillory, the fictional world in which Quentin immerses himself in by reading his favorite books over and over and over again.
4.) There’s Mystery, Too
Who doesn’t love a good mystery? With Quentin trying to figure out if Fillory is real or not real, and his one-on-one encounter with a creature only known as “The Beast,” there are a lot of questions to be answered after the first two episodes of The Magicians.
5.) ‘The Magicians’ Does Not Shy Away From ‘Harry Potter’ Jokes
The J.K. Rowling series is just one of the fictional fantasy favorites that The Magicians is so frequently compared to, and the series made sure to embrace that with open arms. The references are not just refreshing… they’re delightful!
6.) The Writers/Creators Are ‘Mega’ Fans Of The Book Series
When a book is adapted into a television series or movie, there is always a lot of concern about how it’s done. With The Magicians, lovers of the books have no reason to worry because the series is in amazing hands. Sera Gamble and John McNamara are the brilliant minds behind bringing the books to life, and they are, as author Lev Grossman calls them, “mega fans” of the series. They want nothing more than to see the story and characters they love be done right, which means they are the best team to make it happen.
7.) Lev Grossman Has Been Involved Since The Start
Another reason not to worry? Because Lev Grossman isn’t, either. Not only has he been on-and-off The Magicians set constantly as they filmed their first season in Vancouver, Canada, but he has been actively involved in reading scripts and working hand-in-hand with Sera and John when needed.
8.) ‘The Magicians’ Is Secretly Hilarious
Yes, it’s a fantasy drama about a group of young magicians trying to figure out life, but it’s also got aspects of a dark comedy. The jokes are quietly delivered in perfect shades of sarcasm and dry humor, which makes them funnier than you would expect.
