Steven Tyler, 68, and his daughter, Mia Tyler, 37, decided to make the most of the blizzard weather and take a walk around NYC on Saturday, January 24. Despite the frigid and dangerous conditions, they were having a peachy time, and thought they’d say hello to CNN reporter Poppy Harlow doing her broadcast about the massive winter storm. Leave it to Steven to spice up a normal newscast! The Aerosmith frontman and former American Idol judge was stuck in NYC after appearing on the Late Show the night before, and couldn’t get back to his home in Boston. Luckily, his daughter Mia lives in downtown Manhattan, so he got to spend the snowy day exploring with her — and fitting in an impromptu CNN interview.

Steven, who was all bundled up for the brutal blizzard, told Poppy about his plans for the storm: “I’m gonna hunker down. I’ve got a funny feeling the storm’s gonna keep us here a couple extra days,” he said. Along with his Late Show appearance, he was in town to see Mia and his grandson, Milo (daughter Liv Tyler‘s son).
Steven gave a sweet shoutout to Milo while he was still on air, and offered advice to others in NYC trapped by the storm before he left Poppy to do the rest of her broadcast. “Stay home. Two words: hot chocolate.” Excellent advice, don’t you think?
