Joey Feek has been painstakingly chronicling her journey through Stage IV cervical cancer, and her latest revelation is about her immense love for husband Rory Feek. Joey spoke passionately about her dear partner and bandmate, and the first time she ever laid eyes on him.
Joey Feek, 40, spoke to PEOPLE magazine about her beloved husband Rory Feek, 49, and the impact that his love has had on her life. Rory has always been on by her side, and after 13 years of marriage, that beautiful love is still burning. Joey+Rory are releasing one last album on February 12, and Joey says it’s her most passionate project yet — because it’s about Rory!
Joey+Rory’s final album, Hymns & Stories That Are Important to Us, is what Joey’s calling her most important project. The album is a tribute to their love story, before and after her cancer diagnosis. One significant thing is chronicles is the romantic story of how the couple met. Joey explained the dreamy day to PEOPLE.
“Rory was singing ‘In the Round’ at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville with three other songwriters,” Joey told the mag about the first time she ever saw Rory. “I was just one of dozens of people in the audience that night. From the first song Rory sang, I fell head over heels for him. I didn’t even know him, but something inside me said, ‘You’re going to marry that man and spend the rest of your lives together.'”
They married just two months later, and the rest is history. So romantic. They formed their husband-wife bluegrass ban, Joey+Rory, and competed on CMT’s Can You Duet in 2008. And in February 2014, they welcomed beautiful baby girl, Indiana. Rory has two daughters from a previous relationship, Heidi, 29, and Hopie, 27.
Rory told PEOPLE, “For better or worse aren’t just words you say anymore. Because of all Joey is going through, it’s given me the opportunity to live them every day, and follow through and mean the words I said to her at the altar.” So sad!
