Ronda Rousey’s epic, joke-filled SNL monologue took a little detour for a serious moment, when she congratulated rival Holly Holm for her UFC 193 win. Click through to watch the gracious moment!
Ronda Rousey‘s loss to Holly Holm, 34, at UFC 193 in November 2015 was a total shock to both her and her fans, and Ronda’s deigned to remain silent ever since. But in her monologue as a first time host on Saturday Night Live on January 23, Ronda, 28, took the opportunity to give Holly a congratulatory shout out! Click through to watch!
No bad blood here! Ronda started off her monologue by saying how excited she was to host SNL, and especially that everyone showed up since there’s a blizzard going on outside! But she paused from her jokes (like hitting Justin Bieber!) for a brief moment to say something significant: Holly deserved to win their UFC match!
“I’m so excited to be here, because it’s my first time being live on television without getting punched in the face,” Ronda said. “It’s also my first time talking to my fans since my loss to Holly Holm in November, which by the way, was a fight Holly deserved to win. And I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely congratulate her.” She then pointed stage right and said firmly, “That’s enough!”
Love it! You hear that? We can all stop talking about her loss to Holly, and how they may or may not be feuding because of it. Ronda’s done! She’s got bigger and better things up ahead to focus on, like hosting this episode of Saturday Night Live, after all! But there is a rematch between the two women in the future, likely July 2016! Ronda confirmed the news herself when asked at the airport by TMZ. No KOs against Ronda this time!
