While the Warriors have suffered a handful of losses, they remain completely flawless at home, per NBA.com. With a 19-0 record, they hope to make it an even 20 wins after playing the Pacers. When Golden State last faced Indiana, they got by with a 131-123 win. However, after blowing out LeBron James, 31, and the Cleveland Cavaliers as well as the Chicago Bulls, the Warriors are confident they’ll keep the winning streak alive.
As for the Pacers, they’re getting back on the right track. “This was all about us getting a win and getting back to playing winning basketball,” the Pacers’ Paul George said, following their win over the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 19, per Fox Sports. “It was poor closing this game out. We’ve got to do a better job, but it was a good start to getting back to playing some defense.”
The Jan. 21 game will be more than just a homecoming for the Warriors after a road trip. Coach Steve Kerr is returning to the bench, according to ESPN, after missing half of the season due to a complications following back surgery. The team will be happy to see him back as he helps the Warriors win another NBA Championship.
“This is life. One minute, you’re hoisting a trophy, and the next minute you’re in the hospital,” Steve told ESPN. “Everybody, every human being experiences that in their own existence, no matter what job you’re doing. You have highs and lows, health issues, great joy and great pain and all that. It’s part of life.”
