With January almost coming to a close, a lot of us have already given up our New Year’s resolutions, but thankfully, we caught up with our fave couple from Dancing With The Stars! Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 36, and Peta Murgatroyd, 29. They partnered with JCPenney, the destination for affordable and stylish activewear, to help get shoppers off to a healthy start in 2016 at a special event in NYC on Jan. 21. We are obsessed with this amazing couple and they gave us some seriously helpful tips to stay fit and healthy!
At the fun event, Maksim and Peta taught shoppers Latin dance moves and steps, while wearing the latest from the Xersion activewear line, sold exclusively at JCPenney. We loved Peta’s outfit so much — it was so bright and fun. The Xersion™ Long-Sleeve Half-Zip Pullover is so cozy and it comes in a bunch of different colors — plus, it’s currently on sale, so it’s your lucky day!
When you have fun workout gear, it motivates you to workout because your outfit is so cute. So Peta’s hot pink pullover will definitely get you moving. We spoke to Peta exclusively and she told us what her go-to workout outfit is. “I’m not one of those girls that goes to the gym and loves to look pretty. I love to sweat, I sweat a lot and I feel like I don’t get a workout if I don’t. So, I never wear really fancy, sexy stuff to the gym. I love fluffy pants, I love crop tops that I could just tie in a knot, put my hair up in a bun, and just jog. Nothing crazy for me,” she said.
For those of you who need to get back on track and follow through with your resolutions, Maks and Peta gave amazing advice on why dancing is such a great, fun workout. “I think that it’s exciting, it’s interesting, and you never get bored of it. It’s something you can do with a partner, by yourself, and anybody can dance – that’s the beauty of it. There are many different dance styles out there, which you can focus on and you can tailor to what you love and I just think it’s the perfect way to lose weight and to exercise and be healthy. I think people are scared of dancing to be honest. Everyone thinks they’re going to show up to class and fumble over steps, but it’s ok,” Peta said.
Maks explained why you shouldn’t be scared to dive right into dance, “You go to places to learn and those places only exist because there are people that are uncomfortable with dancing. If everyone was comfortable with it, there wouldn’t be dance schools, there wouldn’t be places designed specifically to cater to those who are just awkward, and ‘I have 2 left feet,’ great – if you didn’t, we wouldn’t exist – there would be no need for us. You have to fight your own fear – walk in and realize, ‘oh my gosh’ I should’ve done this a long time ago.”
Wow, these two lovebirds got us seriously excited to get moving and stay fit. What do you guys think — are you motivated enough?
