Celine arrived at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal for her late husband Rene’s funeral with her hands locked with her two 5-year-old twin sons, Nelson and Eddy. The two boys wore matching black hats covering their shoulder-length hair and grey peacoats, differentiated only by one wearing a bow tie, and one a regular tie. Celine herself wore an elegant long-sleeved black dress, and a long black veil to cover her grief-stricken face.
Behind the trio followed Celine and Rene’s 14-year-old son Rene-Charles. He walked in with his grandmother, 88-year-old Thérèse. Both wore long black coats and solemn expressions. Rene-Charles also gave a heartfelt speech at the funeral, which was attended by many high-status Canadians like Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau.
