French fashion house, Avoc, debuted their Men’s AW16 collection during Paris Fashion Week, and their runway show had a bit of a twist. The models walked the runway decked out in masks of politicians and weirdly enough, Darth Vader. This was definitely something we haven’t seen before! We can’t decide of this was cool or just too weird. What do you think?
We are so freaked out by the runway at the Avoc show during Paris Fashion Week. The French fashion house put on a show, or should we say skeptical, on Jan. 20, when they debuted their Men’s AW16 collection. We are all about crazy hair, makeup, and accessories on runways, but this brand stepped outside the box and dressed up the models in all different types of masks — mostly politicians. We’re not sure what this is about — perhaps it was a publicity stunt? What did you guys think of the show?
The two designers behind the brand, Bastien Laurent and Laura Do, spoke to Clausette after the show, describing the collection and the models, “This one goes to the young pirates of the 21st century. Growing up between Paris and its suburbs, talking fast, breaking doors, driving without license, freewheel and with no sweet destination. Avoc is burning.”
The entire collection was mostly made up of neutral colors like nude, black, gray, and white, while most of the clothes were baggy, with some fitted trousers and skirts.
While some models showed their faces, others strutted their stuff in all different types of masks which freaked us out a little bit. We caught some familiar faces, though — Hillary Clinton, President Obama, Darth Vader, Donald Trump, and George W. Bush. Art is subjective, and we get that, but this was just a tad bit too creepy for our liking.
We want to know what you guys think — was this cool or totally bizarre?
