Ronda Rousey gave a sneak peek of the funny — and the pain — she’ll bring as host of the Jan. 23 episode of ‘Saturday Night Live.’ Her ‘SNL’ co-star, Beck Bennett, first tries to take Ronda out on a date before trying to take her down with a wrestling move. Both end badly, so click to watch!
Who knew that Ronda Rousey, 28, could be so funny? She and Saturday Night Live star Beck Bennett, 31, gave a hilarious preview of Ronda’s first ever SNL hosting gig. If the whole “being one of the most dangerous women on the planet” thing doesn’t work out, Ronda at least has a backup career in comedy.
Ronda is pretty clever in her promos for the Jan. 23 episode — featuring musical guest, Selena Gomez, 23 — but Beck is amazing, too. First, the SNL comedian falls for Ronda romantically, before he falls over her — literally.
“Ronda, I feel an immediate bond with you,” Beck says as he gets nice and cozy with the MMA superstar. The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champ tells him, “Take your arm off me or I’ll rip it off,” but even that doesn’t stop Beck from fanboying over Ronda. He even got to show off his character, Beck “The Wreck” Bennett.
Huh. Although Ronda did make an amazing appearance at Wrestlemania 30, she told Beck that as a UFC fighter, she “actually fight[s]” and doesn’t wear costume. To make a disappointed Beck feel better, Ronda let him put his “Beck The Wreck Noggin Lock” on Ronda. She easily tossed Beck on the ground with a judo throw, completing her move with a very sassy hair flip. Don’t feel bad for Beck. He seemed less bruised and more psyched that his hero took him down. Points for Ronda!
Fans are going to get to see a lot of Ronda’s comedic chops. Not only is she hosting SNL for the first time, she’s also appearing in a commercial alongside Amy Schumer, 34. The Trainwreck star and Ronda were seen filming a Bud Light Platinum ad and Amy couldn’t help but snap a selfie with her MMA BFF.
With Ronda appearing in films like Entourage, Furious 7 and more, it may seem she’s focusing on anything but her rematch with Holly Holm, 34. Ronda put that nonsense to rest, saying that facing Holly again is “all I want to do.” While Ronda’s having fun playing on SNL, her UFC career — and rematch with Holly — is no laughing matter.
