So sad. Eminem’s homeless sister-in-law, Dawn Scott, has reportedly succumbed to her drug addiction, dying of an overdose just four months after reveling that the rapper had refused to help her in her time of need. Get the tragic details below.
This is just awful. After years of pleading with Eminem, 43, for help, the rapper’s homeless sister-in-law, Dawn Scott, has lost her battle to drug addiction, dying of an alleged overdose on Jan. 19. The troubled 40-year-old and mother to Eminem’s adopted daughter, Alaina, was reportedly found dead at the Motor City Trailer Park in Detroit, Michigan, just four months after revealing that the rapper had allegedly left her to die on the street. See below for the troubling details.
Police in Warren, Michigan have confirmed to RadarOnline that Dawn was found dead on Jan. 19 of “an apparent heroin overdose” in Unit D-39 of the Motor City Trailer Park, just a 15-minute drive from where she grew up with Eminem — then known as Marshall Mathers — on Detroit’s infamous 8 Mile Road. Prior to her death, Dawn’s addictions were said to have become so bad that she was “doing any kind of drugs she could get her hands on,” according to her ex-boyfriend, Les Martin, with whom she lived on-and-off with for the past four years. “Heroin, cocaine, Adderall. If it was a pill, she would take it. Klonopin were her downfall. She was swallowing them things like candy.”
Dawn’s death comes just four months after she revealed to the website that the “Lose Yourself” rapper, who is reportedly worth $170 million, callously turned his back on her when she pleaded him to help her escape homelessness. “I have a millionaire brother-in-law and a sister with money up the a**, but they’re refusing to give me any help,” she told Radar. “It’s a betrayal. He’s been part of our family since he was 15!”
The late 40-year-old, who is not only the twin sister of Eminem’s ex-wife Kim Mathers, 41, but also the birth mother of the couple’s adopted daughter, claimed to have been homeless since 2014, at which time she began bouncing from coach to coach, sometimes even being forced to sleep on the street and behind dumpsters.
Still, despite the horrifying circumstances, Les claimed that Eminem wasn’t the only one who refused to help Dawn, as he also allegedly pleaded with Kim during numerous phone calls over the last year to help her sister.
“I’ve been trying like hell to save her life,” Les told Radar. “I’ve had numerous conversations with Kim about trying to get her help and it just wasn’t a conversation she wanted to have. She wanted to let Dawn go. I was so frustrated I was like, ‘Do you have a $10 million insurance policy on her?’”
This situation is not only heartbreaking, but also shocking. While it’s no secret that Eminem has had a troubled past when it comes to dealing with his family, it’s likely that if he did refuse Dawn any sort of financial help, it was to ensue that she didn’t use that money to fund her drug addiction.
At this time, Eminem has not yet spoken publicly on the matter. As always, our hearts go out to Dawn’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
